Unite is a molecular database for the identification of ectomycorrhizal fungi. It holds
ITS sequences that are generated from fruiting bodies that are collected and identified by specialists. Unite uses type
specimens whenever possible. The Database of Chestnut Mycorrhizae is modeled after their site.

The American Chestnut Foundation has supplied funding for part of this project
and is also a great resource for learning more about the American chestnut tree. TACF is dedicated to returning
the American chestnut trees to their former dominance.

The ITS sequences generated in this work were amplified with the primers ITS1-F and ITS4.
Primer sequences can be obtained from the
Tom Bruns Lab and Rytas Vilgalys Lab.
